품격있는 사임인사

Gary Cohn, 골드만삭스 임원출신, 미국 백악관 국가경제위원회(NEC) 위원장이 결국 사임했다. 관세부과와 무역전쟁에 대해 대통령과 의견대립으로 그만두는 것이지만 사임 인사말은 참 점잖고 품격있다.

“It has been an honor to serve my country and enact pro-growth economic policies to benefit the American people, in particular the passage of historic tax reform. I am grateful to the President for giving me this opportunity and wish him and the Administration great success in the future.”

그리고 그 품격없다는 대통령도 품격있게 대꾸했다.

Mr. Trump praised Mr. Cohn’s “superb job” as his economics adviser and called him a “rare talent.”
“I thank him for his dedicated service to the American people,” Mr. Trump said.
