Double Glazed Windows
Today we decided to get double glazed windows installed, it is well past time to make the house comfortable without spending large amounts on gas for heating or electricity for the air conditioning.
Double glazing should make a significant difference to the internal conditions in terms of both temperature and noise. Noise is not an issue for us were we live, the street is relatively quiet and the neighbours we have are good.
The above picture is a typical cross section of a double glazed window.
Given the temperatures we experience here in Australia. I don't know why it isn't a requirement for new homes to have double glazed windows, along with solar panels, and a rain water tank. Yes it would add to the cost of construction, but long term the home owner would save.
