This was from the Firefly TV Series.
The TV series is something that I believe should have run for longer, but for some reason it wasn't rating well. There were probably too few fans like me that prefer this to half of the shows on the TV. I could quite happily live without shows like Big brother, Biggest Loser, My Kitchen Rules, Survivor, etc.
In case you haven't seen the movie or the TV series the movie plot goes something like this. In the not too distant future (about 500 years) we have space travel and colonies on other planets. There was a unification war and the captain of the spaceship Serenity fought on the loosing side.
This means he does his best to avoid the authorities and goes generally unnoticed, until one of his crew rescues his sister from the ruling regime. The government have been training her to be a superior weapon with unmatched skills.
Initially River does not display any combat skills, this changes when they are in a bar and she witnesses a message from the Alliance the ruling regime which has a subliminal trigger. She is able to defend herself and overcome her attackers with ease.
This of course attracts the attention of the Alliance and they send one of their best men simply known as the operative to retrieve their property. Also add to this that there are cannibals (Reavers) in certain sections of inhabited space that even the Alliance stay away from.
So now the crew of the Serenity are looking to expose the experiments done to River, while eluding the Alliance and avoiding the Reavers. This leads to some action scenes with both the Alliance and the Reavers, and with each fight scene we see more of Rivers skills.
As I mentioned earlier, I did enjoy this movie and watched the partial TV series, the network cut the season early. If you like space action movies e.g. Star Trek type then you will probably enjoy this.
