A little different

Yes I have seen this movie, probably like quite a few people, you can admit it. It was a little different and it helped if you could keep up with the switching between the scenes/stories (dreams) within the movie, not always an easy task, and it can be quite easy to get mixed between the various dreams.

For those that haven't seen this one, a very brief outline of the story will follow.
It is about a thief (Leonardo) who can enter the dreams of other people and steal their most closely held secrets, ideas, codes, etc. This gives him an edge over other hackers that can only get into computer systems or physical buildings.

In order to achieve this he must place the victim in a sedated state by using fairly powerful drugs, and enter the same state. The trap is that if you "die" in the dream world you may not wake up due to the drug induced state you are in.

Also, in order to wake up someone (another team member) needs to monitor the group that are in the dream world and introduce a specific event design to jolt everyone awake. The final complication is that time is accelerated within the dream world, minutes in the "real" world are hours within the dream world.

Leonardo and his team are hired for a special job. One that is nothing like what they have done before, to plant an idea deep within the subconscious of their target. In order to go deep enough into the target's mind, they will need to go three levels deep, have a dream, within a dream, within a dream. What could possibly go wrong?

Because there are four levels (reality, dream 1, dream 2, dream 3), their are four stories all occurring at once. It does take some effort to keep up with which one they are in right at that moment as the movie switches between them quite often.

I did see this in the cinema at the time it was released, it wasn't your typical movie experience due to the multiple stories. The question is would I have been disappointed if I didn't see it at the cinema, the answer is, no. The movie is one of those that I could quite easily have waited for it's release onto DVD. Especially since I suspect multiple viewings would help to keep up with all the stores.
