So Amazon is apparently releasing a TV show based on The Lord of the Rings. It's called The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power...or so I believe. It appears to be based completely on the original Lord of the Rings. I don't think that they are trying to do more with the story, although I don't know because it doesn't come out until September 2022. You can find a trailer of it on the web, but the trailer is really simplistic and it doesn't show much.
I've started to rewatch the extended versions of the trilogy from Peter Jackson. It's kind of interesting to think about a new version, because I remember when Peter Jackson's version was the new version. It was the version we were all waiting for, and it really did meet our expectations. However, that version is about 20 years old now. It's hard to believe that really.
Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings came out in 2001. That's 21 years ago.
It's really crazy to think that the book came out something like 75 years ago. Back then, finding that book must have been like finding a treasure that you could never have possibly even imagined could have existed. A whole new world was opened up. Honestly, I think Peter Jackson's trilogy opened up a whole new fantasy world in the movie theater as well. I'm really looking forward to see what Amazon can do here, but I don't have huge hopes. Still, I have to say I'm very interested to see how this Lord of the Rings show is going to turn out.
