It's funny to think that a couple of years ago everyone would have immediately known what I was talking about. It's obviously a Game of Thrones reference. In just a few years I'm sure that people won't even have any idea that it came from Game of Thrones. I remember reading the books in 2006 and 2007. As a matter of fact, I was on the way to a picnic with some of my friends, I think in 2006, when I happened to stop and a Half Price Books and noticed that they had a new copy of A Feast for Crows. I was so excited to receive the book, even though I paid something like $30 for it.
It was worth it to get a nice hardcover copy of it. I have no idea where any of my stuff from 10 years ago is though. I literally have no books, even though I had something like 500 back then. And of course I have no no DVD's or CDs either. Not a single one. I have a feeling I must have sold a bunch of them. I know I sold a few.
I don't really mean to go on and on about Game of Thrones though. I'm talking about actual winter. I live in the South and winter doesn't usually come around here very often. Although it did last year. I think it got down as low as 5 degrees last year. It was shockingly cold, and none of us knew what to do. It's not going to get that cold, but starting tomorrow it is going to be pretty cold.
I live in a different place than I used to, and I can tell you that the central heat costs a fortune here. I tried it for a couple of months, and each of those months cost something like $400 for electricity instead of the normal $100 or so. So I went out and got a space heater. Not the smallest crappiest one though. It's a pretty nice one actually. It's like a small wood fireplace. It heats up pretty well but not nearly as well as central heating. It's going to be a cold morning, I'll tell you that much.
I have no idea how the people that live in the North do it. I have a feeling their houses and apartments are probably very well insulated.
So that's about that. We're getting ready for winter and no one is really enjoying it. Maybe somebody is. Nobody around here though.
