Christmas At Home

Christmas day, the most wonderful time of the year. It's the time where we buy gifts for our loveones, family and friends. We prepare varities of foods for Noche Buena while waiting for midnight. We buy firecrackers too to make noise when the clock hits 12 midnight.

 
Year 2021, our Christmas was still the same except for not having the electricity to lighten our little Christmas tree and Christmas lights, no music and no television. Just us, my family, pets and food.

I and my partner celebrated our Christmas at my home town, Danao City. When I get home, the house was so silent. It's not the same from last years, music was on all day in every households. I helped my mother bought our needs for noche buena and other things she needs. Noche buena is a Christmas eve celebration for Christian Latinx population. The noche buena is a big, open house celebration with family, friends and neighbors dropping in to wish a Merry Christmas.

  I also bought gifts for the family, my tradition to my self. Not just for them but I included some for my god sons and daughters.

The night came and we started lighting the candles. We started the night too by drinking wine with my father and my boyfriend while watching a downloaded movie in my boyfriend's phone.

While waiting for midnight, I wasn't really sad because there's no power yet but I got sad thinking of the families who lost their homes, who lost their loveones. How or did they remember and still celebrated Christmas?

I fell asleep while thinking of the situations after the recent typhoon. Its hard not to remember it if me myself have witness how cruel it was to us in Cebu.

My mother woke me up 10mins before midnight. I got pretty excited to make noise and greet everyone. Everybody was up too, still sleepy and tired. When 12midnight arrives, I greeted everyone, hugs and kisses my parents and grandmother, expressing my love to them and make them feel what Christmas is really about.

Christmas for me is about family. Not the gifts, not the fancy foods, and not the attire you wear but its about the love you have for your family, kindness to the people, share your blessings and be with them in the time of celebrating the love and giving, Christmas day.

I actually gifted the Rice cooker that I won last Hive Christmas party to my grand mother. Photo at the right.

The rest of the dawn, we ate and start giving gifts. I surprisingly received a gift from my father. A slipper! how sweet. He maybe saw my old slipper already ripped but I'm still wearing it.

It was a fine night. I was very glad that I get to see my parents after all the worries and fears I felt when I was not at home after the typhoon in Christmas. I'm very happy too that I am with the person I dearly love in the day I look forward too every year.
