When I was a child, I used assignments as an excuse not to do some housework, especially when it came to washing the dishes. I try to do my assignment myself, and when it gets so hard, then I will require the assistance of my parents, but now parents do their kids' assignments themselves without teaching them the pre-work, unaware it affects their academic life.

I'm in support of it not being scrapped, though our parents have decided to take it upon themselves to write the answer for the child at rush hours without the child having little knowledge about how the pre-work works.
I could remember my younger siblings always remembering their assignments the next morning while preparing for school. For them it is an escape room to avoid someone yelling at them whenever they are being taught how to do their homework.
Most take-home assignments turn out to come up in their tests and exams, and imagine just providing the answers to the assignment without the child knowing the method or procedure of how the answers are gotten.

I know things get so tight for parents; life gets busy and exhausting at the end of the day, but they should endeavor to at least teach their children how to do their assignments. If you teach them, even if they see that same question or equation anywhere, they will be able to solve the questions or even try to solve them, but by which the child has no idea; he is dumb at it even if he gets 10/10 in his/her assignment, they don't even know how to solve such questions.
Parents should endeavor to always ask their kids if they came home with an assignment whenever they come back from school instead of letting them play all through the evening.
That way they master the routine. Whenever they came home, they would firstly remember their assignments and bring them for assistance or even try to do it themselves and later show you how to go through them.
Teachers should be taking it easy on the students too, especially when it comes to the assignment given.
Most of them don't even teach the equation before giving it to them as an assignment. I can remember when my youngest siblings came home with an assignment.
That evening, everyone at home tried to solve it but couldn't get the answer until it was brought to me; there wasn't any pre-work on how it was solved in the class.
It took me several hours before I could even solve one. It almost took the night because I had to teach him how to solve it, and it got frustrating when I had to repeat myself several times, and yet he couldn't learn how to solve any equations.
The method was so complicated, and I recommend the school scheme of work should be on what the students can easily do for themselves, not too complicated equations that a junior high is supposed to do.
Assignment keeps kids busy and helps them to learn and understand better instead of running around the house and screaming at the top of their voices or going to the next neighborhood to play.
