Well, the beans were a success at first, but for some reason, they died and withered very quickly. I hope they managed to complete their life cycle and metabolize enough CO2 to improve our environment; however, seeing how my poor beans were deteriorating, I considered using the space for another plant.

My girlfriend thought the space was perfect for growing cherry tomatoes—those tiny little tomatoes—so I went ahead and cut some open, took out the seeds, and planted them in both pots. I put some next to the cactus, but since you don't water a cactus every day, I also planted some with the black beans; and sure enough, within a couple of days, little plants were already sprouting from the soil.

This is how things stand right now. At first, I thought the plant in the corner—the one on the opposite side from the black beans—was also a cherry tomato plant, but I remember planting a clove of garlic quite a few weeks ago, so I assume that’s what’s coming up. Besides, the leaf looks a lot like the one in the other pot; the only thing is that it was planted around the same time as the other one, so it surprises me that it’s only just now starting to grow...

Anyway, the batch of seeds is coming along quite quickly. Depending on how they develop, I suppose I’ll need to get some larger, more elongated pots—specifically for the cherry tomatoes—and see what else I might plant. It’s been a truly rewarding adventure, one that I want to continue and keep sharing with you all. Now that I’ll have a bit more time at work, I’m sure I’ll be able to do just that, and I’ll have some good news to share with you in a few days...

The cactus and the other little plant haven’t died, at least—though I haven’t seen them grow much. I’m continuing to look after them and add fertilizer to see if that helps; I’m staying positive, hoping that everything turns out well.
