My shipment of extra Z-crystals came today! I plan on using the light yellow colored Kommonium-Z as a base.

Next, I tried to porp open the crystal with a nail file and one of those exacto knives. Luckily, all the contents inside were not held in there with glue!
The contents inside include the chip that lights up, and a piece of paper with the Kommo-o symbol. How it works is that you put the paper in upside down, then the chip projects light through the white outline of the paper and the black blocks it so that you get this cool little symbol!
Next up, I went ahead and scanned the paper into my computer and then used Photoshop to edit on the Porygon symbol! Then I printed it out the the exact same size as the piece of paper so that it will fit into the crystal.
Here's my design. It's supposed o be Porygon's face. But it also kinda looks like someone going AAAAAAA!lol
For fun, I put my paper and the chip into the crystal, and then tested it out on my Z-ring!
It's a little hard to see here. But it looks great in real life!
But I'm not done yet. Next time in part 2, I'll be trying to see if I can change the color of the crystal's shell to pink using dye or something to that degree. Stay tuned!
