Deadwood is wonderful. I loved this series and was so happy when the movie was approved and released in 2019, giving the story closure.
I put my phone away when I'm going to watch a series or a movie; that way I avoid distractions. It's difficult these days, but I recommend rediscovering the pleasure of stories that unfold gradually. I wouldn't binge-watch it; I suggest watching one or two episodes, taking a break for a couple of days, and then continuing.
It's not a series to watch all the episodes in a row like we do now, and I understand that it can be hard to get hooked with the first few.
I'm rewatching Oz, another excellent series from the beginning of the second golden age of television with HBO, although it definitely shows its age. I'm watching one episode a week, the old-fashioned way.
I hope you get a taste for Deadwood and watch it all the way through; for me, it's another gem from HBO.
