I started following this Youtube channel about seven years ago. The same time I also follow Planeta Juan. It was at that time when I was researching the best countries to emigrate to and Canada was always an option. Nowadays things have changed and although it still has many positive things, the progre and woke policies are taking their toll on the idea of going to Canada.
The channel belongs to Nelson Reyes, a Colombian who emigrated to Canada quite some time ago, for economic and security reasons, after having worked in journalism and politics in his native country.
I believe he is one of the first Spanish-speaking yotubers who started the niche of recommending Canada as a destination for those who want to start a new life there. If you look at his channel, he's had it for about 12 years. Although it seems that it wasn't constant at first, his channel became popular seven years ago when that boom of Youtube channels talking about the advantages of living in Canada started.
As I was very interested in that niche, I watched all of Nelson Reyes' videos and also those of Planeta Juan. There is another Youtube channel that I started following at that time, that of Diego Saúl Reyna, who became famous for putting a Mexican flag on one of the Trump Towers. I hope to write about that channel soon, as I stopped following it because of its excessive left-wing woke stance.
The first video I saw of Nelson Reyes showed the city of Ottawa. I liked his fresh style without a lot of posturing. Always expressing his point of view and from his personal experience. He has progressed in that country, he has formed a new family in that country and that is what he focuses on in his channel. Showing us the advantages and disadvantages, so that the viewer can make their own decisions.
Medicine, scholarships, food expenses, rents, and many other recommendations and experiences on these topics, so that we get to know the culture and lifestyle of that country.
When the channel started to get more views and more channels about that niche, he also spent more time creating content, which would surely be more profitable for him. Trips to other places became more frequent. Also the time and consistency in publishing became noticeable. Visits and followers grew not only on youtube, but also on social networks such as Instagram.
The channel continues to exploit that niche. Other channels that talked about Canada, took a break, some have left and others have focused more on travelling the world. Nelson Reyes continues to focus on the same niche despite the fact that there are many more yotubers on the same topic and that living in Canada is not as sought after these days. Maybe that's why the channel has about 450,000 subscribers and others who started out like Nelson Reyes now have more followers, but it's because of what I explained before.
I still watch it. Although Canada is not a getaway destination for me, I am addicted to information and learning about other places in the world. Two days ago I watched one of his most recent videos, where he talks about the new rules for those going to Canada on a student visa.
In all her videos you will find very useful information. These are the kind of channels I like to watch. Channels where they provide valuable information on a topic I like and at the same time don't forget to be entertaining. Let's not forget that most consumers are looking for entertainment, and also that the platform's algorithm favours those who offer entertaining topics.
If you are from Latin America and want to know more about Canada, I recommend you watch Nelson Reyes' channel: DescrubirendoCanada.
