Ramen weekend

Last Saturday, after passing through East Park on my way to the bazaar, I headed to the city center. I walked to get some exercise and enjoy the sun, which had come out after hours of rain.

It was the reopening of a small food stall located in a small shopping center. It sells ramen, inspired by the one featured in Naruto. I had been told that there would be some cosplayers and activities for the public who went there to eat ramen.

El sábado pasado, después de pasar por el Parque del Este para ir al bazar, me dirigí al centro de la ciudad. Fui andando para hacer algo de ejercicio y disfrutar del sol, que había salido después de horas de lluvia.

Era la reapertura de un pequeño puesto de comida situado en un pequeño centro comercial. Vende ramen, inspirado en el que aparece en Naruto. Me habían dicho que habría algunos cosplayers y actividades para el público que fuera a comer ramen allí.

I sat down for a while to rest after the long walk. Some cosplayers were starting to arrive. There were already people lining up or waiting their turn to eat ramen. In no time, it filled up with more people. That business had a good day. I left very early, but when I did, there were already eighty orders waiting.

The small ramen cost about three dollars and the large one six. I saw that most people ordered the large ramen, but even if you only count the three dollars plus the cost of drinks, the total is considerable. On that Saturday alone, they probably made almost a thousand dollars. Of course, announcing the presence of different cosplayers brought in more people, but with the current economic situation in the country, that kind of influx isn't going to happen every day.

Me senté un rato a descansar después de la larga caminata. Algunos cosplayers empezaban a llegar. Ya había gente haciendo cola o esperando su turno para comer ramen. En poco tiempo, se llenó de más gente. Ese negocio tuvo un buen día. Me fui muy temprano, pero cuando lo hice, ya había ochenta pedidos esperando.

El ramen pequeño costaba unos tres dólares y el grande seis. Vi que la mayoría de la gente pedía el ramen grande, pero incluso si solo se cuentan los tres dólares más el coste de las bebidas, la suma es considerable. Solo ese sábado, probablemente ganaron casi mil dólares. Por supuesto, anunciar la presencia de diferentes cosplayers hizo que viniera más gente, pero con la situación económica actual del país, ese tipo de afluencia no va a ocurrir todos los días.

Most of the cosplayers chose the Naruto theme. As soon as they started coming out, people began taking photos with them and recording videos. The children wanted to take photos with each of the characters, and the cosplayers were happy to oblige. They also had time to pose for the official photographer hired by the shopping center and to walk around the nearby streets, informing people about the reopening of the venue.

This time I didn't take as many photos, as I was a little tired and also wanted to visit some shops in the city center to find out the prices of some things I need. I couldn't stay late, as many cosplayers weren't ready and others hadn't arrived yet.

La mayoría de los cosplayers eligieron el tema de Naruto. Tan pronto como empezaron a salir, la gente comenzó a hacerse fotos con ellos y a grabar vídeos. Los niños querían hacerse fotos con cada uno de los personajes, y los cosplayers estaban encantados de complacerlos. También tuvieron tiempo para posar para el fotógrafo oficial contratado por el centro comercial y para pasear por las calles cercanas, informando a la gente sobre la reapertura del local.

Esta vez no tomé tantas fotos, ya que estaba un poco cansado y también quería visitar algunas tiendas en el centro de la ciudad para averiguar los precios de algunas cosas que necesito. No pude quedarme hasta tarde, ya que muchos cosplayers no estaban listos y otros aún no habían llegado.

Before leaving, I noticed that they were preparing everything for karaoke and setting up a small accessory stand. There were a lot of people and the space was very small. The photo area was also somewhat uncomfortable due to its narrowness.

I chatted briefly with some cosplayers who hadn't come in costume but had come to support their friends and see if they could eat ramen, as there was a long wait. I found out that several of them couldn't do it because it got too late and they left before it was their turn.

Antes de irme, me di cuenta de que estaban preparando todo para el karaoke y montando un pequeño puesto de accesorios. Había mucha gente y el espacio era muy pequeño. La zona para hacer fotos también era algo incómoda debido a su estrechez.

Charlé brevemente con algunos cosplayers que no habían venido con trajes, pero que habían acudido para apoyar a sus amigos y ver si podían comer ramen, ya que había una larga espera. Descubrí que varios de ellos no pudieron hacerlo porque se les hizo demasiado tarde y se marcharon antes de que les tocara el turno.
