The other day the weather was absolutely idyllic! Far too good to be wasted indoors! Although there is a lagoon and a beach pretty much here on our doorstep - it is quite a hefty (although beautiful) walk past the lagoon to get to the beach, which it was way too hot for, so we decided to hop into the car and head down to Grotto beach which is just past Hermanus - about a 15 to 20 minute drive from my dads place. There are beaches which are closer but they do not allow doggies on them and we wanted to take Herbie out for a run too.
It has actually been years since I was at Grotto beach - in fact, the last time I was there did not end so well, lol! I had JUST received my phone upgrade, which I think was a note 9 at the time (or one of the notes) and the very next day we took all the cousins down to Grotto for a swim. I had put my phone on a selfie stick so I could get some cool shots of everyone.
Unawares, as I hopped in between the waves snapping pics of the kiddos, the little screw which secured the phone to the selfie stick has been loosening... well, one "bloop" later and my phone was gone into the waves. I have never dived onto my haunches so quickly in my life, lol!!!
I managed to retrieve my phone, but sadly it had been in the water for way too long so it was a gonner lol. All I can say is thank goodness for insurance as they replaced it within 24 hours. That was a trip to the beach I will not soon forget, lol!
Thankfully, this trip ended on a much more positive note, with a soft serve ice cream, a dip in the pool and yet another braai! haha :)
