There are many special roles we play as people, but none so special as motherhood. I say this as someone who has grown up with a mom who has, is and always will be my best friend - and also as a mother myself now. For as far back as I can dig into the recesses of my mind, my mom lizziesworld@lizziesworld has been my emotional ROCK! No, she is not perfect - but neither am I, and now as a mom myself, knowing the trials I face, how could I ever expect that of her... but you know what - she is perfect in MY EYES, because despite everything I put her through, and everything she has been through herself in her own life - she never gave up on me - not even once, not even a little bit - and this stands true for not only me, but for my three brothers too.

My brothers and I are blessed to have one of those moms... you know, the GOOD MOMS - that ate the pan scrapings so that you could have that last egg, that would freeze after giving you her jersey if it meant that you would be warm, a mom that would have hot porridge ready for you in the mornings, would tell you again and again how "amazing" you are no matter how much you lacked self-belief, a mom that would drag you by your hair to your room and give you a fat KLAP after being on the phone to the police because you had not yet arrived home three hours after you were supposed to hehe.... A mom that has unconditional love for her children! - A REAL MOM!

Honestly speaking, there are no word fit to describe the love and appreciation I have for you mom. You have stood by my side through my DARKEST times - never losing faith in me! I had actually made the decision to NOT become a parent when I found out I was already pregnant and yet again you were there for me - toxic marriage and all! You moved in to my place for Jude and I, when his dad walked out on us after he was born and that is something that I will NEVER forget!!!!!!! It was the beginning of my journey of motherhood - something that was supposed to be so beautiful yet it turned out SO VERY HARD - and you were there!!!!!

I found a poem the other day and I thought it apt...

A TRIBUTE TO MY MOTHER

The beauty of nature is forever seen
By oh so many, who don't know what they mean
The beauty of the trees and their enormous heights
The beauty of the birds and their gift of flight

The sun, moon and stars are God sent lights
Most things we take for granted are beautiful sights
The beauty of them all and the beauty of others
Are no comparisons in the beauty of mothers

They are God's most precious gift to humanity
The most worked, yet least rewarded thing to be
With all that we put them through, they seldom complain
All the things they do for us, we still view them the same

Have you ever tried to put yourself in her place
When you say your unkind words or grin and make fun to her face
What goes around, comes around, my mom used to say
Well mom, I understand what you meant fully, today

All the love you have shown me, and the unappreciated talks years ago
Are all fresh in my mind, because I'm a mom now, you know
I love you more every minute, every hour and every day that rolls around
I entered into motherhood blindfolded, and God knows what I found

Thank you mom, for what you tried to tell me and forgive me all my wrongs
Thank you for not giving up on me my whole life long
You mean so very much to me, I'm sorry it took so long to say
My beautiful, understanding mother.

Without my mom, I would be lost!

And let me just say, that my beautiful child judethedude@judethedude and I had this conversation briefly earlier tonight... I asked him - "what would you do without your mom?" and his response hehe was "I would probably die" hehe.... never were truer words spoken ;)

Motherhood was not something I had planned - in fact, as I mentioned earlier, it was something I had decided against but I was already pregnant at the time lol.... but would I change it? NOT FOR THE WORLD!!!!! I may want to strangle Jude some days, but let me tell you... the days he is not here - even for a few hours, everything in my life feels EMPTY and INCOMPLETE!!!! He is my entire world!!!!

I may not be the best mom in the world - but I am doing my best to be the best mom I know how to be. Jude and I giggled earlier this evening as he bathed. "Mom what did I used to call my teacher in grade R when she was angry?" Dragon lady my love, you called her dragon lady, why? - "Well, because I love you but when you shout at me... then YOU are dragon lady". hahahahaha thanks love! "Mom what was her name - I cant remember" - Mrs Leader babe, she got married. "Oh yes, I remember - strange name especially since she was our leader". hahha....

Moments like this, make my world as a mom priceless!

And I am ever grateful to you MOM, for instilling in me - the value, importance and MAGNITUDE of a Mother!
