Oh my gosh, I love places like that — natural history museums... planetariums... I love them all. First and foremost, it reminds you that you are just a tiny spec in time. And maybe that's disconcerting for some, but for me it eases away the stress of the day and all the minutia of my life, and makes me realize that it is all fleeting. So why worry?

Mass extinction. What a foreign concept for humans! Consider a single event that causes the extinction of 50% of the species on the planet.

Yes. The planet knows how to carry on... and on... and on! It makes me think that even if we somehow can't escape a full-blown global warming disaster, a million years from now the earth will still be in some kind of big cycle, taking care of itself and providing food, water and shelter for whatever species come after us!
