Being itinerant certainly doesn’t lend itself to gardening, does it? It must be interesting to compare gardening approaches and methods in different regions, though!

Here in Minnesota, which is in the far northern part of the U.S. we have harsh, 6-month winters. The ground is just now thawing, and it will be a month before planting is viable. But we love our gardens. They grow fast and furious between May and September.

The smart folks get seedlings started now for transplanting to the earth in May. I lack the discipline or the space. However this year I might grow some flats of marigolds since I saved all the seeds from last year. I use them as a border to my vegetable garden, as they help keep the bugs out.
