It was 6:00am in the morning when Rachael knocked at the door of Esther her sister's room. "Come in"
the voice inside the room beacons as if she had been expecting her.
"Why are you awake this early? did you not have a good night sleep? Rachael greeting with a question.
'but i thought....has your husband gone to work?'
Esther asked with an expression on her face that could not be described by Rachael. Seeing the puzzled look on her sister's face, Rachael said
Oh!.... that's what i have come to tell you. I told you my husband's friend called in yesterday night to say he will be having an urgent meeting in office this morning by 8:00am and will not be dispensable to anybody during this time...
'Okay.... so...' Esther said urging her to continue
'So you are not going with my husband as planned for 7:00am...'
Seeing the way Esther scowled at her she continued. '..meaning you will locate his office on your own'
she further said. 'Or better still Fred will drop you off at...'
she said but couldn't conclude as she was cut off by Esther's question.
'Fred!.. is he here!' she asked in a manner showing some interest.'No not at the moment, but he'll be here later to pick something my husband left for him.
The excitement of seeing Fred again after their last meeting increased on hearing those words her sister spoke.
Keeping such sweet thought as she sat in the dinning room anxious in expectation of Fred's arrival. Fred's arrival took longer than expected but he finally arrived at the house.
'Esther...' Fred heard himself calling as he entered the sitting room. Esther only met his call with a vivid smile.
'Sorry for keeping you waiting! traffic in this town' he said.
In a short while the were in the car already heading for the office. And after some minutes drive the car finally came to a halt at their destination.
'So this is were i leave you' Fred said touching her right shoulder.
'Just make yourself known to the receptionist, then enjoy the comfort of our exotic waiting room.' **he said now making his way into the building.
Having met with the lady receptionist Esther took her sit on one of the armed sofa chairs around. She sat backing a group of men presumable office staff who were locked in a great conversation with each other that they could not even reply the wave of gesture she made towards them. After a few minutes, the sound emanating from the television hung on the wall soon faded as Esther tried her possible best to eavesdrop at the conversation the men were having.
'...yes that's true' one of the men said
'even mine does that as well' said another.
'And the funny thing is that they act that way showing no remorse'
'it is either money for this or money for that!' said the forth voice with great displeasure.
'At least yours even ask you for something, mine never. she takes decisions on her own... could you imagine that my Gracey took my children to go visit her mother for about 2weeks now without even telling me?'
the first voice stated with a tone showing great displeasure.
'why should she tell you ehn!'
one of them mocked.
'thought i told you, you are too free and lacked any commanding presence as the head of the house! So i don't...'
'Come...come, mister man don't say anything that i will be angry with you for oh! i'm just....'
'....you are just what, ehn!'
another voice countered without allowing any room for his friend to finish his statement.
'That's one thing with you, you know you don't like taking advice form anybody not even from us your friends. Then why don't you enjoy the result of your actions ehn!...'
the voice concluded sounding some what irritated.
'Guys! Guys!! why don't we leave family matters for later ehn there will be plenty of time to bask our-self in pity later on remember...' another voice said mockingly with less concern.
'is it be cause you are not married... that why you think you can make fun of us right!..'
Their conversation was soon after ended when all of the men were called by a man standing diagonally to were there were siting. The man wore a dark plain suit coupled with black but shinning pair of shoes to go with his dressing. The reaction the men showed when they were called and how he gesticulated indicated that he might be one of the big officers in this establishment Esther thought.
'He is ready for you now!' was what brought Esther back from her temporary mind wondering...
'...just go with that man over there...' the receptionist continued. 'he's the secretary to the big boss, he'll show you to the bosses office.'
SECRETARY was the word that echoed in her ears as she made her way towards his direction
Her skin was welcomed with a very cold chilly temperature as she entered the mangers office.
'..yes i just spoke with some of our investors... yes..'
The manager stated vehemently into the mouth piece of the phone glued to his ear as he sway on a big leather chair he was sitting on..
'as soon as positive talks emanate keep me in formed okay!'
he said with a warm smile as he put down the telephone.
