Like the cover photo says ‘don’t spend half your life telling what you are going to do and the other half explaining why you didn’t do it’ Yes this is very true, you need to have good self-management instead of focusing all your energy on managing time. Because the shocking thing is that you can’t MANAGE TIME, you can only manage yourself in time.
Think about this, can anyone control time? Or can anyone save minutes from one day to spend on another?
The answer is simple: many persons give more attention to managing time and less on managing themselves in time and without even knowing it, they all end up doing the wrong things at the wrong time.
The fact of the matter is time cannot be managed. Everyone gets the same number of hours and minutes every day no matter how good or how much wealth we have. And you cannot save up minutes that you had wasted the previous day. And even though you hear people saying we need to ’find time’ and see, they need to stop looking. There no extra time lying around. The 24hours hours you have is the same 24hours I and any other person has. So you might be wandering that if you can’t manage time, what then can you do?
Focus on yourself. Practice self-discipline and follow a calculated but flexible schedule. Self-management is not rocket science, it works like a charm. Nothing separates successful people from unsuccessful people more than how they use their time. Successful people understand the pricelessness of time. Having goals is great, but what’s better is having clear goals that beg to be achieved. It is not enough to be busy; the question there is what are we busy about?
Rate your task in terms of importance. That is by identifying the Critical task, task that is Necessary, Important, Helpful and Marginal. You need to also determine the urgency of what you intend doing. The real thing is, to make the best use of your time you have to learn to adapt to schedules, by continually considering your priorities. Flexibility here is not a guarantee to constantly changing your schedule every time an unexpected event surfaces. But, when a high priority matter does arise, you could re-work your schedule so as to address it.
This is where discipline comes into play. To effectively manage yourself in time you need focus. If you work on a task at the actual time, and your mind is wondering all around, you are definitely not going to make any good use of your time. So if you are someone who constantly sets goals with great intentions, but end up not actually executing them, you need to set deadlines for yourself to achieve set goals. Break bulky jobs in chunks, and set achievable deadlines in accomplishing those jobs. Use the advantage of devices, apps, and gadgets to remind you of what and exactly when you need to achieve/do something. Do not give excuses like “something came up” or oh! I forgot. AVOID PROCRASTINATION! Do what you need to do in time.
Learn to manage yourself in time!
