You really cannot force anyone to change. Bullying, harnessing, use of threats is counterproductive and damaging to human psyche. A person bullied to silence may stop talking but he’s actually protesting inside. A woman threatened to submission may submit outwardly but will still remain unruly inside. A person forced against his or her opinion remains of the same opinion still.
Why? He is neither made to see reasons to change nor convinced about the need to change. But correction tempered with love and patience is effective and enduring. Change brought from the angle of love faces little or no resistance, because the person expected to change naturally submits to change.
This does not mean we should tolerate indiscipline or condone it. But my point is that the one that is approached with love yields the best and lasting result. You do not need to coerce your neighbors, friends, colleagues, and spouse etc. to change; just love them and show it to them.
The moments your action towards them is lovely, and void of threats or condemnation, they will naturally respond and gradually assume a proposed new way of life. You can always correct, sell your opinion if you can adopt the love approach.
