Giving pen drawing a break, here i am with a pencil portrait of a black man, maybe not too obvious but a Nigerian man to be precise. Pencil drawing has been my thing from the scratch and i'm super glad to exhibit this with this little piece of mine. Although not pen drawing but i do not make mistakes just as one is required in drawing with a pen, i guess that was the reason i had less issues with pen drawing when i started giving it a try recently. I don't know how true but i feel pencil drawing take a little more time than the pen drawing because one has to shade and highlight vividly. On the other hand, pen drawing seems more difficult because one shades straight away without making any mistake. Let's take a look at the steps of the portrait.

Steps:

  1. Make grid lines and trace out your image

  1. Gradual shading from the hair

  1. Erase the the parts where light reflects

  1. Indicate spots and add more features to make it a little realistic
