업무차 해외에 자주 나가는 저에게 이집트는 벌써 10번째 이상 방문하는 나라가 되었습니다. 수도권에 거주하고 있지만 비행기로는 한시간도 안걸리는 부산에는 단 한번도 가보지 못했는데 말이죠.

그렇게 이집트를 많이 가봤으나 항상 업무에 치여 피라미드와 스핑크스 방문은 이번이 처음이었습니다.

It is quite funny that I've never visited the 2nd biggest city (Busan) in Korea where is 400km away from my town.
Then, can you imagine that I have visited the city and country more than 10 times even the distance is 8400km away from me?

Where is the place? Cairo in Egypt!

Believe me, it is the first time to visit Pyramid and Sphinx even if I was here many times. Um.. I am.. a bit kind of workaholic??.

세계적인 유적지를 경험한다는 설레임에 한걸음에 매표소로 달려갑니다. (중간 중간 잡상인들이 많이 달라 붙었지만..)

Anyhow I have been very excited to see and experience one of the historical monuments in the world "The Great Pyramid of Giza". I just darted to the ticket office to get a ticket since I have only 3 hours of free time before next biz meeting.

피라미드의 엄청난 크기에 압도당할만 하지요? 이곳은 쿠푸왕의 피라미드로 147미터의 높이에 200만개 이상의 벽돌로 쌓았다고 합니다. (쿠푸왕의 피라미드는 카프레왕, 멘카우레왕 피라미드와 함께 3대 피라미드로 불리며 그 중 가장 규모가 큽니다)

It is the "Great Pyramid of Khufu" which is the largest and oldest pyramids of *The Three Pyramids in Giza pyramid complex. It is originally 147 meter tall and consists of 2.3 million blocks.

Let's move on to the guardian "Sphinx"

스핑크스는 사람의 머리와 사자의 몸을 가지고 있습니다. 몸의 길이 약 70미터, 높이 20미터, 얼굴너비 4미터로 카프레왕이 건설한 것으로 알려져 있습니다.

스핑크스의 코가 깨져있는데, 나폴레옹이 대포를 쏘아서 그렇게 만들었다는 설도 있고, 오스만제국 병사들이 스핑크스 코를 상대로 사격연습을 하였다는 설도 있다고 합니다. (출저 위키피디아)

Sphinx has the head of a human and the body of a lion.
It measures 70 meters long, 20 meters high and 4 meters wide in head.

According to Wikipedia, the Sphinx is commonly believed to have been built during the reign of the king Khafre. (some one said the face of the Sphinx is resemble to him)

The Sphinx has no nose so there are many rumors in this regards. One of them is that the nose was hammered by cannon balls fired by Napoleon Bonaparte.
