Your current situation in life is an accumulation of all the opportunities you did or did not take advantage of. You APPLIED for that job. You WENTto the gym.* You DECIDED to MAKE those friends. All of these decisions dictate who you are, the state of relationships, and ultimately the way you see the world. Adversely, the things you *DON’T do effect you as much as the actions you took. What would happen if you never exercised? How would your significant other feel if you never showed appreciation? How well world your car work if you never took it in for an oil change? Whether we like it or not the majority of events in our life are as predictable as “cause” and effect”; I do (or don’t do) X and the result is Y. It’s simple arithmetic, Watson! Unfortunately, when put into practice it’s a little more complicated. We don’t take the actions that effect positive change in our life because the fright of failure is greater than the desire for success. Luckily there are ways to fight through these feelings and achieve the rewards you know you deserve:

Success Is A Statistical Certainty
Do parents tell their children “If you can’t walk after a few tries…just give up… seriously…. it’s never going to happen”?! I hope not. The truth is that after every single failure the chance of success becomes more and more probable. If you try and fail enough times the probability of success will become greater than continued failure. Realize that no one has failed forever.. it is a statistical impossibility (granted you are not trying to defy the laws of physics). Perhaps your problem is not that you are good at failure… maybe you have become comfortable with quitting. Simply reminding yourself of this can help you soldier on until you obtain the success you deserve.

The Self Fulfilling Prophecy
Words are powerful beyond their everyday use. What we tell ourselves effects the subconscious and manifest into reality. This behavior is extremely insidious because over time we demonstrate through actions that we are not capable of success., These are some phrases you may know well:

“She will never go out with me…”
“This class is too hard…”
“I hate my job…”
“ I am not a good dancer…”
“He or she is smarter than me…”

And blah blah blah

While you may have said these very words (or a variation of them) the message is still the same; THIS IS A VERY BAD HABIT THAT CAN HAVE REAL NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON YOUR LIFE!!! But luckily for us, the reverse of this is equally as effective. Saying positive things will improve your thoughts about yourself and increase your self-esteem. By making this a habit you STOP sabotaging yourself which will position you for a great chance for success in the future.

The Success Snowball
“Objects in motion tend to stay in motion” – Law of inertia

We are creatures of habit and continue with the behavior we are most used too. If you are used to failing chances are you probably will not stop failing today. IF you like succeeding then my guess is that you will take the necessary steps to ensure that you do. If you find yourself on the losing end of this equation you need to get yourself back into the winning mentality. You can achieve this by starting with small daily wins to get you back in the habit of following through with your goals. Over time work your way up to larger goals until you are going after your dreams again!

If you ever find yourself falling out of alignment just implement the simple strategies to fine tune yourself into a winning, achieving, success machine. We all deserve to have the life we want… so go out there and get it.

Think well. Achieve More. Live Better.
