I do think if you write many brilliant songs but the idiot audience is always begging for one and are never happy without it, you might get resentful of it? I believe Kurt Cobain felt a similar way about "Smells Like Teen Spirit" - he almost wrote it as a joke about knowing exactly what the audience wants but then was stuck having to play it...
But Radiohead did write many other amazing songs... I actually think "The Bends" (which didn't have this song on it) is one of those albums that is perfect throughout... and there's the song "Kharma Police" and many others...
