It was not connected... in general it's just long past time. We have many blogging sites, we have over a dozen nodes (even if mostly only 1-2 are primarily used), we have many interfaces to do important hive transactions and some of those transactions have advanced wallets that do only those core functions... but as far as storing keys safely and interacting with hive projects we only had one.
