The kids burned down a school? wow, that is some serious dysfunction. They're being taught the wrong things obviously! Without reform there won't be anything for them to inherit except debt and there won't be anything for them to feel entitled to.

What a mess, no wonder people have given up and left. I wouldn't give up because I think there is always hope but at this point it sounds like God will have to intervene and change people's hearts and minds.
