Trekking through Madeira - day 2 - from Ponta da Ladeira to Fanal
Early morning weather on Ponta da Ladeira was cloudy and misty - so I have not no photography of sunrises, but only some not so morning pictures.
Agtre breakfast I started to go to my today trip. Thisrt part of them leads through part of Achadas da Cruz village and next I went to Levada do Moinho hiking trail - first real leavda during my trekkking on Madeira. After this levada I looking to smaller waterfall, enjoy some tropical and subtropical flowers and beautiful not really difficult trail with falling levada around. Around this levada I went to Lamaceiros above Porto Moniz.
After smaller break I go to find a trail leads to Ribeira da Janela - this trail is not in fact well marked, I try one trails, but this trail finished on the midlle of nowhere, or better said in unwalkable terrain, so I must went back. Second voice leads firstly on asphalt narrow road was good choice, after few minutes I continued on steeply downwards path around steep small fields and amazing view to Ribeira da Janela with Atlantic Ocean. Finally this steep path finished on normal road above Ribeira da Janela and then I went on this route down to Atlantic Ocean - Ribeira da Janala (better said coast bellow these village is one of Madeira island landmarks, especially for photographers.
Undfortunalety weather here was cloudy with occasional rain. Here I done a longer break, buit weather was still the same, so I must to continued in this weather - rainy, cloudy, misty and with big humidity. I go up firstly on main road, then on narrower street of Ribeira da Janela village and next on steep Verada do Ribeira da Janela trail.
This more demanding and steep part finished in elevation about 700 m and then I continuing on really less demanding Levada dos Cedros trail leads around Levada dos Cedros levada (water canal) - this part was really beautiful and relaxing and weather also going better and better.
Unfortunately agter about 5 km of relaxable only little ascending trail hiking trail go out from levada and leads up. Really up, really steep, with wooden stairs - lot of wooden staies. Fortunately, every ascend one time finished and this one finished on the road near famous Fanal. So i go only few minutes to famous Fanal forest and finally enjoy amazing sunset above mist.
