HE IS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK
It is true that the Lord is closer to you than your closest foe. It doesn’t matter how close you are to danger, the Lord is closer. God is not taking the fight for granted. The battle is too fierce for God to leave you exposed to the enemy. He is with you as the Strong and Terrible One. This is one thing you have to confront the devil with and it is something you have to assure yourself of. As the Lord took the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; Pharaoh the king of Egypt pursued after them vigorously and there were all kinds of tactical angelic relocation in the camp of the Israelites.
Friends! The Lord is a Warrior: “The angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them ; and the pillar of cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by might to those (the Israelites): so that the one came not near the other all the might” Exodus 14:19-20.
You are really not as vulnerable as you think. You are never alone. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds you. We have an interesting account in 2 Kings chapter 6 of how the king of Syria sent horses and chariots and a great host to do after Elisha. They came by night and compassed the city round about. By the time Elisha’s servant got up early in the morning and saw them; he ran to his master and screamed – “Alas my master, how shall we do?”
At such times; it is usually not a matter of what you are going to do. It is simply a matter of what God has done. He doesn’t sleep nor slumber. Heaven can never be silent over you neither will God fold His hands at the enemy He has seen, coming against you. Little did Elisha’s servant know that God was much closer to them than the army of Syria that appeared to be too close for comfort. By the time the Lord opened his eyes, he saw that the mountains was full of horses and chariots of fire around about Elisha. It is not a matter of what you see or feel. God’s Word is true. God is closer to you than your enemies can ever be. The blood of Jesus was not shed in vain. The blood stands between you and your fiercest pursuer. You are too secure to be molested.
