Since there's a supermoon here, I decided to upload my brief facts about what a supermoon is.
what is a supermoon?
A supermoon is a full moon that coincides with the closest distance it has with earths elliptic orbit, which results in a larger than usual moon.
the most recent supermoon:
The most recent supermoon happened on the 3 December 2017, and the next supermoon will occur on the January
2 2018.
The largest yet recent supermoon that ever occured on the November 14 2016, which was the closest supermoon of the century since January 26 1948 (3 years after WW2)
The distance
The distance of a moon varies in each month, but it's between 357000 and 406000 km due to it's elliptical orbit around the earth.
the effects of the tides
The effects of the tide is greatest when combining the sun and a full moon.
But on a lunar perigee, the tides get much stronger, which results in perigean spring tides. But it is still weak, despite it being so powerful.
