Yesterday was my 1 week anniversary for joining Steemit. Back then is when I listened to Greg Mannarino's urgent video to anyone listening to sign up. I reluctantly, lemmingly took the plunge. Now, Greg does not want people to be lemmings. He wants you to find out things and get understanding on your own. So I had and have an immense task ahead of me trying to learn about all this.
I have had a laptop for years, yet I still didn't know how to cut and paste, see what I mean, that is copy and paste. I've never joined anything on the internet, so I didn't subscribe to anything, or post or make comments. I mainly used my computer as a radio, a reference source, and a place to find free instructions and patterns for my two main hobbies, crocheting and origami. My one exception was eventually joining Pinterest a short while ago desperate to find more patterns - seems like everyone was going over there, so it was an enormous resource.
My first GIANT obstacle was the password. Was this for real, giving me a password. Maybe I could substitute my own, no.
You have to use the password they give you. Okay, there's 52 symbols, yes, I counted them. I start typing the password in, remember, I don't know how to copy and paste. With the dots coming up, no way am I going to be able to do this correctly, it would be a miracle. After many attempts, yes, I kept trying. I finally got my husband to help me. I don't like to bother him, so I try to figure out as much as I can on my own. So that's how I got past the password.
Okay, I'm in. Assignment accomplished, I joined Steemit. What?! I have to make an intro? Can't think of anything, because I don't have much to say about myself. I had to come up with something. Then when I could think more clearly, I decided to edit, but couldn't. Our stories are forever? Since then, we can edit, what a relief. I think I'm keeping my original story for posterity. A keepsake of my humble beginnings.
There are thousands and thousands of new people that have joined recently. A massive part attributed to Greg Mannarino since he already has a huge world-wide following. And when he speaks, does everyone listen? It's a smart move if they do. I listened too, despite all my challenging issues. But now what do I do?
It is becoming my further adventures in Steemitland. Each story becomes a chapter. It's not a never ending story, but I don't know when it will end. I am learning there are endless possibilities of ideas for stories. And they may make some Steem.
