For a long time, environmentalists and defenders of the planet have expressed their great concern for the environment due to the high global pollution, as a consequence of the emission of nitrogen dioxide (NO2), a harmful substance that is expelled by vehicles, generally disiel, plants energy, power plants and industrial facilities, among others.
But recently, to the surprise of many, the data obtained by ESA's Sentinel-5 Satellite and NASA's Aura satellite have shown the significant decrease in NO2 in many countries of the world, it was initially evident in China (Beijing) once it started. mandatory isolation in this country following the Covid-19 pandemic.
Below is an image obtained by the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) dated 04/16/2020 where the degrees of concentration of NO2 are currently displayed once the quarantine has been relaxed.

Air pollution over East Asia with China (Beijing), North Korea, South Korea and Japan 16/04/2020 (last 24 hours)

In contrast, comparative images of the period from 01 to 20 January are shown before the quarantine was established, in contrast to the corresponding period from 10 to 25 February during compliance, where the difference in the contrast of the colors that identify the concentration of NO2.
The difference in the concentration of NO2 is really evident, compared to the first image where economic activities are already beginning to be incorporated and the concentration of said substance in the environment begins to increase.

Italia

Something similar happened on other continents, in the image shown below, the contrast of the NO2 concentration levels of Italy for mid-February (Left) and those shown in the image provided by the Sentinel-5P satellite for on 03/11/2020 (right), it should be noted that the latter during the quarantine established in that country, for more information you can visit this

Likewise, comparatively, the image supplied by OMI dated 04/16/2020 is shown, where an even greater drop in NO2 concentration levels is evident, especially in northern Italy.

Argentina

For comparative and referential purposes only, it is shown in the American Continent, specifically Argentina, where the mandatory isolation measure was established as of 03/20/2020, the image below shows March 13,16,20 and 23 , where the latter already showed the difference in the concentration of NO2 in its capital Buenos Aires.

Finally, the image supplied by OMI is presented, dated 04/16/2020, where forty is still being implemented in this country and the NO2 concentration contrasts have dropped significantly.

Likewise, for those who are interested in learning more about the work of:

NASA,Aura,OMI in relation to the monitoring and various projects they carry out, here are the links.

Finally, I invite you to reflect on the impact that the human being is making on our only home "The Earth".

Will we be on time as a result of the latest events to become aware and find a way to minimize the environmental impact?
