Thanks for the detailed review! I read books like this all the time when I was a kid in the 70s. Those, and all the Alfred Hitchcock and Ellery Queen anthologies. But not this particular one. I didn't know that the infamous Zuni fetish doll was the work of Matheson. It figures though -- every time I see something old that I like that's horror-ish, it's either from Matheson, Bloch, Ellison, Charles Beaumont, or occasionally, Ray Bradbury.
