Hi everyone!
I'm Sophia and I'm a rising junior at Skidmore College. As a film student, I'm interested in directing, editing, and writing, but wish to take up all aspects of film. Although, I especially love editing and have created various projects in the past from independent shorts to experimental horror pieces. I also wrote, directed, edited, and cast my own independent short for a senior project in high school called "Out There" about the coming of age story of two female best friends. This was the project that led me love directing and storytelling. This summer I'm also interning at Pie Face Pictures with the incredible @Dougkarr who I will be shadowing and gaining expertise from!
My favorite directors include Greta Gerwig, David Lynch, Andrei Tarkovsky, Ingmar Bergman, Sofia Coppola, Wes Anderson and Tim Burton. But, I'm quite a huge fan of Greta's work at the moment and all that she stands for with female cinema. I also hope to expand female representation on film while also encouraging more women to work in the industry. I want to tell the stories and truths that are hidden and rarely brought attention to.
I'm also a Chinese and English major and previously lived abroad in Hong Kong for five years and an additional year in Beijing where I studied to become fluent in mandarin. With this in mind, I hope to combine my language skills with film!
