A Glimpse Of Hong Kong Places Through Street Art (and Ngong Ping Silent Streets At Night)
10th February 2024
We see different places, not just by traveling, but by portraits of them.
During my last visit to Ngong Ping, I saw how the bustling village was transformed into a quiet scenery when dusk falls. Uncountable visitors in the daytime can be counted with one hand at night time. I heard shops are closing at 6 pm, only limited vehicles are going back to HK cities, and the terminal queue is quite long, so visitors are leaving earlier.

It was on this quiet street that I stumbled upon a corner where paintings were hanging from the railings. Famous places in Hong Kong and Lantau Island are displayed in this area. This allows visitors to see amazing works of art created by various artists and have a glimpse of several iconic places.
These paintings show the idyllic scenery of Tai O fishing village, also called as Venice of the Orient. You won't imagine the progressive HK in Tai O. It's the complete opposite of HK's iconic skyscrapers, towering structures, and bustling cities. Fishing boats and stilt houses are the main attractions. Seafood is the main cuisine. This is a place I would love to visit again and again. In fact, I've been to Tai O thrice already in different years. This is just one ride from Ngong Ping village, so many tourists visit Tai O after exploring Ngong Ping or otherwise.
My own image was taken from Tai O village.
Meanwhile, these paintings show Ngong Ping Village, a great place for a family weekend getaway, some adventures, and cultural exploration. There are a lot of interesting places to see in Ngong Ping which were featured in my #LantauIslandExploration'24. My bucket list on this island hasn't been achieved yet, so my exploration will continue throughout the year.
My own photos of Ngong Ping.
This portrait shows the iconic view of the Hong Kong skyline along Victoria Harbor featuring the iconic junk boat, and cruise ship that let visitors tour in the sea while exploring Hong Kong Island. The best spot to capture this view is from Avenue of Stars which is also a good spot to watch Symphony of Lights at eight in the evening.
Here are my own photos taken from Victoria Harbor, particularly from the Avenue of Stars promenade.
This portrait shows the iconic AIA Observation Wheel and harbor view of the capital city, Central Hong Kong.

I hope you had a glimpse of some iconic places in Hong Kong through these art pieces.
Happy weekend! Happy Chinese New Year here ☺️.
Thanks for your time.
