Asking strangers for a ride was undoubtedly insane. As you rightly say, both then and now. I think deranged and perverted people have always existed in every era. The difference is that now there are many more of us, and therefore, this kind of evil also increases the likelihood of encountering us. They don't discriminate based on gender.

And regarding the beach adventure! Well, I think the cold they endured served as a lesson.
