I often think about my days as a college, which are now in the past. I remember being a student at University of Iowa and taking all sorts of different classes about art, history, psychology, science, and liberal arts. I often ask myself if it was all for nothing. I mean, I enjoyed college, but it really got me no job and no real experience as anything except a student. When looking back on it, I think I was meeting some pretty girls and taking some interesting classes, but those people are all gone with the wind now.

I spent so much time reading and studying. All those nights memorizing data from professors who got there degrees decades ago. Should I have found my knowledge somewhere else rather than by teachers who went to college in the 1980's? I'm not sure what the point of it was. So I ask myself why I went to college in the first place if I wasn't going to get a job afterwards. Well, the original plan was that I was going to get a job afterwards, but that fell through. Being am art major was undoubtedly my first major mistake. I was dreaming about being one of these million dollar making artists who's work is on display in a museum or a writer who design his own book covers. Why was my mind so far from reality? Was it because I was a pothead pizza delivery boy who had no idea what college was really for? I think that may have been a factor in the whole thing. Was I hopelessly attracted to almost all of the female students at my school who showed up to class wearing tight fitting clothes? Yes, I think that was a factor as well. Did I think that graduating with a 4 year degree would automatically get me a job somewhere even though it was an art degree? Yes, I was stupid enough to believe that even though I was warned (even by teachers) that an art degree would not get me a job regardless of how many classes I took and what my GPA was.

I think back to times when I thought I could always get a job somewhere by showing them that I had a 4 year degree, and that I was a clean shaven, well dressed, white American male, with no prison record and no children. Why was it that I relied on these stupid reasons to get a jobs somewhere, why? Was it because I was from small town Iowa and I had no real idea what the job market was and what it took to get a job? Yeah, I'm sure that had something to do with it. Did I secretly hope that I'd win the fucking lottery and not have work like a damn monkey the rest of my worthless life? Yes, once again the answer is yes.

I still go back to the University of Iowa and see the buildings were I took classes. It's sort of a reminder of how I was young and wanted to be part of the college lifestyle with pretty college girls and drunken nights with frat boys and whatnot. I think I was too shy as a teenager and by the time I was in my twenties I felt left behind and wanted to seek out the good times, but with very little responsibility and very little hard work actually being done. I always liked the experience of being in college activities and events (like football games), but I hated doing homework and studying for exams.

The closer I got to graduation, the more I started to wonder what the fuck was going to happen to some lonesome loser like myself. My father spent most of his life as bricklayer, and I certainly was not one for physical labor jobs, led alone one that required as much planning and intelligence as this one. I'd had my license suspended for several different things over the years, so any further career as a pizza delivery boy was about to be permanently off the table. Plus, I hated the job more and more as I got closer to 30. So I wasn't going to deliver pizza anymore and I wasn't going to join dad in his hard ass job. So what was I gonna do? For years and years I ended up traveling the country as a hitchhiker and daydreamer, thinking about how nice it would be to actually have a place to live and a wife, or even my own car.

By the time I was 35 years old, I'd been through so much shit that I was about ready to commit suicide. Actually I tried it numerous times, but ultimately failed each time. So I wind up coming back to Iowa and staying with my Grandma for a while, which was actually quite nice to be honest. My brother taught me about cryptocurrency and the whole bitcoin story. I started to get excited, maybe all those years of playing with the computer at the library were about to payoff. When I heard about steemit.com I thought that I better at least give it a try since I have nothing else to do and people are getting rich off this sort of stuff. You can write essays and articles about anything really. But what should I write about? Well, I could tell them my story (which is what I'm doing right now).

I'm not sure who will read this post or what they will think of it. If anything you'll know the short story of how I went to college, delivered pizza, and wound up trying to get in on the gold rush of cryptocurrency in the modern age. And what a story it is. Does everyone get rich by participating in steemit.com or websites like it? Is this the answer to my money problems and a hopeful ending to my sad story of how I went to college at the University of Iowa and ended up not knwoing what the hell to do with my life or even what to write about in my steemit posts? I am hopeful that things will work out for me, as it has not been easy and has not been fun. I think I'm in the beginning of learning what to write about on steemit. My brother (who got me into steemit and crypto stuff) tells me to just write about anything and make a post. So here i am trying to make a decent post about anything that I can think of, which in this case happens to be my college and post college story.

I will post more stories in the near future, hopefully ones that are more upbeat and about a successful young man who has made a life for himself with steemit.com and cryptocurrency trading on the internet. Wish me luck, class...
