The problem with your Galileo analogy is that he brought ACTUAL facts, provable by a deep grasp of mathematics (for his time), while you speak of your assertions as if they are facts, unverifiable by mathematics or any other objective means. Moreover, to use a word like "never" when we have such a relatively small sample size of examples to draw any conclusions from is not very scientific. Humanity's time here on earth is just a blip somewhere in time and space and we may very well still be the equivalent of newborns in terms of what the complete path(s) of our evolution will look like when it's all said and done.

What I've essentially said is that you have no right to say what is or isn't possible when it comes to human decisions, because this isn't a science (despite what many "psychologists" would argue), at least not a "hard science" (the type that can actually be proven beyond any reasonable doubt through observation of objective facts).

Human greed often overpowers our better judgement. When money is on the line, people will willingly sign up for just about anything. A hope and a dream is often all that we have to live for, even if it requires that we suffer indefinitely.

While many factors may be stacked against Steem and Steemit, one of them being the deplorable wealth distribution that you alluded, it does have some things going for it too. One obvious one being that it offers the chance to make money, and even to hit a quasi "lotto" (whale follower), even if we're all aware that the odds are stacked against us (that isn't always enough to stop us from trying).
