Happy Sunday, fellow photography enthusiasts!
Today, I’d like to share a technique using simple, accessible gear—showing how basic equipment can still produce striking, highly detailed macro photos that are a true feast for the eyes.
Take a close look at the techniques below:
First, try to avoid direct, harsh sunlight; shooting in the late afternoon is usually much better.
Second, ensure your focus is locked once it’s sharp on your subject—in this case, a flower. Don’t hesitate to use your phone’s zoom feature to help frame the shot and ensure the subject remains in sharp focus.
Third, apply some skillful photo editing. I personally use the Snapseed app, following these steps:
Use the "Details" tool: set "Saturation" to +50 and "Sharpening" to +50.
Use the "Color Grading" tool: set "Highlights" (softness/smoothness) to +80, and "Midtones" (saturation) to +50.
Use the "Tune Image" tool: set "Brightness" to -20, "Ambience" to -50, "Highlights" to -100, and "Shadows" to -20.
Use the "HDR Scape" tool: select the "Nature" preset and set the "Filter Strength" to +10.
All the photos shown are my own, captured using a Redmi Note 14 Pro paired with a 37mm 0.45x super-wide-angle macro lens.
Thank you for stopping by! I welcome any positive, constructive feedback. Don’t let the simplicity of your gear hold you back—let’s get creative!
