There are many small and big reservoirs scattered in Bandarban. The most beautiful and large reservoir is Devtakhum. Its length is 600 feet. It is known that all the giant wild animals are hidden in these reservoirs. Devtakhum is a reservoir located at Roangchhari in Bandarban district.
Most of the captivating pictures of Devatakhum must have been seen through social media! This place can be called a pilgrimage place for adventure lovers.
(These pictures were taken by my brother)
The view of the river Jharna flowing through the middle of the giant rock slope immediately took everyone to the realm of imagination.
Devtakhum is located in Shilbandha Para of Roangchhari upazila, 20 km away from Bandarban district town. The depth of the reservoir is 50 to 60 feet.
Before going to Devatakhum, a small reservoir will fall. Whose name is ‘Pong Su Aung Khum’. You have to swim in this reservoir or hang on to the roots of the adjoining tree and hang it in Devtakhum. Its path is as beautiful; That's terrible. In the rainy season, the water level rises further. It is very difficult to go there then. There is also a danger of slipping on slippery rocky path.
There is no way to Devatakhum without raft. Go as far as you can with the raft; The place will be so narrow! You will be floating in a place where sunlight rarely penetrates. June to January is the best time to visit Devatakhum. Khum is full of water when it rains, so you can take the raft a long way!
If you want to go to Devtakhum from Bandarban, first you have to go to Kachhapatli Army Camp in Roangchhari Upazila.
If you leave Bandarban for Devtakum in the morning, you will be able to reach the Bandarban city again in the evening.
