আজ ২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারি; আমাদের ভাষা শহীদ দিবস। একই সঙ্গে আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস। এই দিনটি বাঙালিদের জন্য বিশেষভাবে আবেগময় কারণ এটি বিশ্বের সকল জাতিগোষ্ঠীর মানুষকে মাতৃভাষার অধিকার ও মর্যাদার স্বীকৃতির কথা স্মরণ করিয়ে দেয়। কারণ, ১৯৫২ সালের এই দিনে মাতৃভাষা বাংলার অধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠার দাবিতে ঢাকার রাজপথে রক্ত ঝরিয়েছিল আমাদের তরুণেরা। আজ আমরা গভীর শ্রদ্ধা ও ভালোবাসায় স্মরণ করছি সালাম, রফিক, বরকত, জব্বার, শফিউরসহ সকল ভাষা শহীদদের।
Today is February 21st; Our Language Martyrs Day. Simultaneously International Mother Language Day. This day is especially emotional for the Bengalis as it reminds the people of all ethnic groups of the world of the recognition of the right and dignity of the mother tongue. Because, on this day in 1952, our young people shed their blood on the streets of Dhaka to demand the establishment of the right to mother tongue Bengal. Today we are remembering with deep respect and love all the language martyrs including Salam, Rafiq, Barkat, Jabbar, Shafiur.
ফেব্রুয়ারি এলেই আমাদের মধ্যে ভাষার প্রতি নতুন ভালোবাসা জেগে ওঠে। আমরা বলি.. ‘মোদের গর্ব, মোদের আশা, আমার বাংলা বাসা।’ আজ শুধু শহীদ দিবস নয় মহান একুশে। জাতিসংঘ কর্তৃক ইউনেস্কোর স্বীকৃতির সাথে সাথে, দিনটি এখন আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস হিসাবে পালিত হয়। 1952 সালের ফেব্রুয়ারিতে, সালাম, বরকত, রফিক এবং সফিক জব্বার তাদের বুকের তাজা রক্ত দিয়ে তাদের মাতৃভাষা বলার অধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন।
As soon as February came, a new love of language awoke in us. We say .. ‘Moder Garb, Moder Asha, Amri Bangla Bahasa.’ Today is not only Martyr's Day but the great Ekushey. With the recognition of UNESCO by the United Nations, the day is now observed as the International Mother Language Day.In February 1952, Salam, Barkat, Rafiq and Safiq Jabbar established the right to speak their mother tongue with fresh blood from their chests.
বাঙালি ছাড়া অন্য কোনো জাতি তার নিজস্ব ভাষা প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য লড়াই করেনি এবং প্রাণ বিসর্জন দেয়নি। তাই আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস উদযাপনের মধ্য দিয়ে বাঙালির এই মহান আত্মত্যাগকে সারা বিশ্ব স্মরণ করে। এর মাধ্যমে তারা আমাদের আত্মত্যাগ সম্পর্কে জানতে পারবে। তারা জানবে বাংলাদেশ নামক স্বাধীন জাতির অনন্য গৌরবের কথা।
Apart from Bengali, no other nation has fought for the establishment of its own language and has not sacrificed its life. That is why the whole world remembers this great sacrifice of Bengalis through the celebration of International Mother Language Day. Through this, they will know about our sacrifices. They will know about the unique pride of an independent nation called Bangladesh.
আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস হল ভাষাগত ও সাংস্কৃতিক বৈচিত্র্য এবং বহুভাষিকতার সচেতনতা বাড়াতে 21শে ফেব্রুয়ারি অনুষ্ঠিত একটি বিশ্বব্যাপী উদযাপন। 17 নভেম্বর 1999 তারিখে ইউনেস্কো কর্তৃক প্রথম ঘোষিত, এটি 2008 কে আন্তর্জাতিক ভাষা বছর হিসাবে প্রতিষ্ঠার প্রস্তাবে জাতিসংঘের সাধারণ পরিষদ কর্তৃক আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে স্বীকৃত হয়েছিল।
International Mother Language Day is a global celebration held on 21st February to raise awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. First declared by UNESCO on 17 November 1999, it was officially recognized by the UN General Assembly in its proposal to establish 2008 as the International Year of Languages.
জাতি হিসেবে আমরা নানাভাবে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছি। আমাদের আরও এগিয়ে যেতে হবে এবং আমাদের ভাষাকে আরও এগিয়ে নিয়ে যেতে হবে। আমরা আমাদের ভাষাকে কোথায় অবহেলা করছি তা খুঁজে বের করতে হবে। এবং আমাদের প্রতিশ্রুতিবদ্ধ হতে হবে যাতে আমরা এর থেকে বেরিয়ে আসতে পারি এবং আমাদের ভাষাকে সমৃদ্ধ করতে নিজেদের অবদান রাখতে পারি.
As a nation we are moving forward in many ways. We have to go further and we have to take our language further. We need to find out where we are neglecting our language. And we have to be committed so that we can get out of it and make our own contribution to enrich our language.
শুধু নিজের ভাষাকে সম্মান করাই যথেষ্ট নয়। অন্যের মাতৃভাষার প্রশংসা করা দরকার। প্রায়ই দেখা যায় উপজাতিরা অন্যের সামনে নিজেদের ভাষায় কথা বলার ক্ষেত্রে নিজেদের হীনমন্যতা স্বীকার করে। অন্যরা তাদের ভাষা নিয়ে হাসে এবং তামাশা করে। তাই তারাও অপমানিত বোধ করে। যদি তাই হয়, তাহলে জাতি হিসেবে আমাদের অহংকারের কোনো স্থান নেই। ভাষার জন্য আমরা জীবন দিয়েছি তা আর গর্বের সাথে বলা যায় না।
It is not enough just to respect one's own language. Need to appreciate the mother tongue of others.প্It is often seen that the tribes admit their inferiority in speaking their own language in front of others. Others laugh and joke about their language. So they also feel insulted. If this is the case, then we as a nation have no place for our arrogance. It is no longer possible to say with pride that we have given our lives for the language.
সর্বোপরি আমাদের ভালো মানসিকতা। যাদের মন নিচু তারা দেশ, সমাজ, পরিবার ও অন্যের সমালোচনায় নিজেকে ব্যস্ত রাখতে চাইবে এবং সবাইকে বিপদে ফেলতে চাইবে। সবার অশুভ প্রচেষ্টাকে উপেক্ষা করে সামনের দিকে এগিয়ে যেতে হবে। আর এভাবেই আমরা এগিয়ে যাই কারণ আমাদের সবকিছু মোকাবেলা করার ক্ষমতা আছে।
Above all, our good mentality. Those whose minds are low will want to keep themselves busy criticizing the country, society, family and others and endanger everyone. We should ignore the evil efforts of everyone and move forward. And this is how we move forward because we have the ability to deal with everything.
