Every moment is new, bringing with it feelings and perceptions we've never experienced before. Even if some things are similar, at the very least, context is always changing. An easy place to see this constant change is through history. Civilizations rise and fall, technology advances, styles go in and out of fashion, languages are born and die, nothing stays for long.
With every new people, new desires and aspirations occur in their minds, sending us down our path of progress or conquest or whatever. It's why we can't always use the same strategies as those who came before us. It's easier to see on this large scale, looking back at our forefathers and mothers.
It's much more difficult to see in the day to day. It's hard to see that everyday you are a brand new person able to make brand new decisions or realize new things. It's hard to see new opportunities when we aren't open to change, when we think we are stuck doing something for the next month or year or decade.
Everyday we encounter new ideas, new circumstances, and we take new actions and meet new people, and all of it is changing us. I don't know if you've ever heard the saying "People change," but probably, and it's so true. Everything about us changes everyday, it's up to us to either go with the change or fight it.
Much like we can go with the flow or struggle against it. Everything is always in flux, flowing, so if we aren't paying attention to our feelings and perceptions, we'll always be a step behind, identifying and labeling whatever came before. Sticking with it often means letting go though. Letting go of fear of change and fear of the unknown.
Now, change is coming faster than ever. Technological advancements are increasing at a rapid rate, people are more connected than ever, we're able to see changes happening across the world. Just spend a month looking at the cryptocurrency community and you'll see just how fast things are changing, and that's a very small sample size compared to everything happening in the world.
In order to thrive, we need to go with the flow of change, and that means letting go. No more struggle or fighting or fear of what's coming next. Embrace it, in your bodies, mind, and world, open up to new thoughts and feelings and circumstances to see where there is opportunity to grow.
I wrote this after reading some more of The Book of Mastery. The book talks about change, and after reading the chapter I found myself meditating during yoga, trying to embrace the change in feeling in my body. To experience each feeling and see where it was going next, or where it needed to go to relax or release. I ended up with better posture and more relaxed muscles at the end of the session, and a lot of it was due to practicing in this way.
How do you embrace change in your life? Are you stagnating and holding onto the past, or are you charging forward? Let me know in the comments, have a great day everyone.
