Your post brought back some fond memories.
During my childhood, my father bought a composite record player/radio unit made by Grundig that looked similar to this:
My sister and I would spend many, many weekend hours (school nights were verboten) listening to the radio or playing LP's on that sturdy Grundig.
In fact, my 80+ y/o mother still has the vintage vinyls like The Jackson Five, Stevie Wonder, The Osmond Brothers, Pat Boone, The Lennon Sisters, The Kingston Trio, The Jungle Book, Sound of Music, etc.
