Never undermine the power of setting goals. November 2017, I wrote in a book, my 2018 resolution and everyday, I am moving towards achieving them. I have achieved some and I am still working on some.

Today, I achieved one of the goals and that is to feature in a Radio Program.

I was engaged by Oluwatoyin Segilola Awolesi on Mindscope Eko Fm 89.7 to discuss about the Sustainable Development Goals and why youths are key to achieving it.

Here are the talking points;

  1. In September 2015, 193 United Nation States formulated and adopted the 17 goals of SDGs that will bring about ending poverty and reducing inequalities by 2030.

  2. The goals were created to bring to awareness some certain issues affecting the world we live in. The effect of climate change on crops. The issue of Social exclusion, employability and peace, justice and strong institutions. It also Identify why we need to partner and collaborate to achieve these goals.

  3. Young people are great communicators, they have huge network, innovative, creative and energetic. But, they are often left behind.

  4. Government, private sector have to understand that to create sustainable development, there is need to pay attention to young people. However, we young people have to define ourselves beyond politics, environment and create the change we want to see. We have to empower other young people and continue to challenge the status quo through evidence and Citizens Generated Data. As well as credible youth driven initiatives.

  5. It takes unreasonable Youth to drive change. The business as usual is to keep quiet and be used by political leaders. It takes unreasonable Youth to ensure that people are aware of the SDGS. It takes unreasonable Adepeju Jaiyeoba to ensure that mothers have access to delivery kits that enable them to deliver safely. It takes unreasonable Amb Isaacs Omoyele (Omoyele Isaac success) to ensure that kids living in the slums have access to quality education. It takes unreasonable Akhere Akran to ensure that disadvantaged children and children with disabilities live a meaningful life. I can't continue to mention amazing guys disrupting the system.

Ultimately, Namhla Mniki-Mangaliso said in one of her post "Leadership is sitting at the table. And, when you find yourself at the table you have to be 100% present and committed. You have to show up, add value and be prepared. More importantly, you have to understand that what you have, what you know is what is currently needed at the table. So speak your truth.

Speaking today, gave me another opportunity to feature in another program LYLT (Leaders of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow). Kindly tune in on Wednesday Eko Fm 89.7 as I talk about assessing international opportunities. Time: 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

I also got invite to speak at a Youth program. Update coming soon.

There is one thing I want you to know about goal settings. When you write them down, you unconsciously take action towards achieving them.
