The Great Reset is the catchy label most recently applied to the schemes of the World Economic Forum as they try to plan how they will impose their sociopolitical ideas upon us. We are supposed to believe that these billionaires and politicians who have long track records of plunder and abuse really and truly want what is best for use nobodies, as if their concentration of power and wealth through political plunder is somehow in our best interests.
It's time to consider the real reset. Start planning for hard times if you haven't already. The 2020 COVID pandemic and its political response is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the chaos we could see in coming years. I don't want to be a Chicken Little, and I could certainly be wrong, but the simple fact remains that even if these power brokers were pure as the driven snow, the economic calculation problem guarantees missteps, and unexpected natural disasters are always a possibility.
What can you do to become a bit more self-sufficient in 2021?
Buy seeds and start gardening, even if it's just some vegetables in a container garden on your apartment balcony.
Find alternatives to your national currency. Whether you diversify into cryptocurrencies, gold, silver, or something else entirely is up to your judgement.
Build your skill set. The gray market economy is likely to have opportunities for those who can work outside the leviathan state's gaze. Education should be a lifelong pursuit.
Build your offline social network. Know who you can trust if things go deeply wrong.
Plan for power outages, water supply disruptions, and loss of other services. Have an evacuation plan in case of fires, hurricanes, riots, or whatever other disaster might occur.
But perhaps most importantly of all, adjust your mindset. We live in a world of partisan divides and tribalism. People trust political and information systems based on allegiance, not reason. Our historical perspectives are skewed by nationalism. Break free of your outlook. Explore ideas you abhor. Try to understand the real beliefs of others, and avoid building strawman caricatures of them. Educate yourself.
We can't make a better world by voting. Put your effort into things you can actually control to some extent. It's the only way we can ride out whatever the future brings, and build the foundation for something better.
