GDP is defined as consumption + investment + government spending. However, government spending is either taxed from the productive economy or generated by inflating the money supply, both of which are net negatives. GDP going up tells us nothing without a deeper look at the underlying data. Here in the US, it looks like the Fed will redefine its measurements to further hide the real inflation rate from its statistics. People see prices rising faster than the official rates, and blame "greed" instead of deeply dishonest data, further driving bad political decisions and justifying more destructive interventions.
