We may go all our lives never needing to stop, drop, and roll because we caught fire, or needing to know the Heimlich Maneuver to help someone who is choking. Some people prefer to just assume the odds are in their favor and not worry about it. Maybe they'll be fine, but I've seen enough news from around the country, and experienced some relatively minor personal inconveniences that were already mitigated by my semi-preparedness, to prefer doing what I can.

The last couple winters were lackluster for snowfall as well, but we finally got some good snow around Valentine's Day a year ago when I tried my snowshoes. There's still a chance for late February and early March to bring some more white stuff.
