On-Board Diagnostics 2 (OBD-2) ports are the scanner plug that has been universal since about 1994 under the dash of every car. I dislike the suite of electronics invading mechanical life, but it is nice to use a cheap scan tool to just see why the "check engine" idiot light is on. It's usually just a nanny sensor whining for attention, but not always.
Fuel injection can be much more efficient than a carburetor, and while those older systems can be rebuilt, anyone tinkering with them without considerable experience already will find it a Pain In The Ass.
