Californians have a... reputation. Not a good one. Especially the folks from Los Angeles and Dan Francisco. I know a few who defy the stereotype, but I can also say the stereotype exists for a reason. They have a habit of moving away because of how expensive, litigious, and regulation-heavy it is there, and then look down their noses at the locals while demanding we adopt more regulations while they make life more expensive and litigious for us.

New Yorkers, as in the city, not the state as a whole, also have a reputation for being abrasive and rude, but I have a lot less experience with them, what with being in the rural Midwest and then Pacific northwest, far from where they are likely to visit.

I have lived in the Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint area on the Idaho panhandle, and while I would like to say the reputation for racism is unwarranted, it was in the background when my family moved west, and isn't entirely gone, although it has always tended to be overblown by the Californians and big city media from elsewhere in the country.
