Civil asset forfeiture is one of the most disgusting examples of pervasive governmental abuse in flagrant violation of both letter and spirit of state and federal constitutional prohibitions. "We're not charging YOU, we're charging your PROPERTY. And you need to prove your property innocent to get it back!"

This is just another reason I have lost all faith in the idea of a constitutional republic and any substantive checks and balances on government. Prohibition laws of any sort are another. And the warfare state. And license mandates for everything.
