I've been preaching preparedness for everything from being snowed in for a week to evacuating from a fire, since both are very real possibility. I once again posted on web2 about how to prepare for an evacuation locally, and some midwits responded with an empty reply that we aren't under an evacuation order. No kidding. If and when the order comes, that person will doubtless wonder why no one suggested they be prepared ahead of time. We also have fire drills in schools and workplaces before the building catches fire.
